“First stage at Dakar and what an experience. As soon as you roll up to the start line and see the tv crews and helicopters you instantly realise that this rally is an entirely different animal to every other out there.”

“The stage itself was pretty varied, from gnarly rocky canyons to open flowing dunes and everything in between. Being only the 3rd day of riding I’ve done since my collarbone operations in October, I decided to take it easy and just ride at trail riding pace. It was also my first time riding my new Yamaha WR450F rally bike, prepared by Drag’on rally team. What a machine, I can’t wait to ride it again tomorrow.”

Tomorrow's stage 2 goes from Al Wajh to Neom with a 367km special stage and a total distance of 401km.
